Introduction to IP Routing

Satisfying demand from campus, enterprise and telecom backbone networks, H3C's Comware® Operating System integrates a carrier-class, high-speed and large-capacity routing engine that provides support for a variety of routing protocols including IPv4 and IPv6 networks and a robust routing capacity up to 512K. To minimize the duration of traffic interruptions, the platform includes advanced routing fast convergence technologies such as bidirectional forwarding detection (BFD), shortest path first (SPF) and Graceful Restart.

Features and Benefits

Comware provides extensive routing protocols to meet the requirements of different types of networks, such as IPv4 and IPv6, including:

• IPv4 network for static routing, Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Intermediate System to Intermediate System (IS-IS), Routing Information Protocol (RIP) and Border Gateway Protocol (BGP)
• IPv6 network for static routing, OSPFv3, IS-ISv6, RIPng and BGP4+
• Bidirectional Forwarding Detection (BFD) and Graceful Restart for protocols such as OSPF, IS-IS and BGP
• Shortest Path First (SPF) for back off algorithm, Fast Flood, index back off for algorithm for SPF calculation interval, PRC routing calculation and I-SPF incremental SPF algorithm

Comware has applied such technologies to the typical link status algorithm routing protocols OSPF and IS-IS, improving the convergence performance of these popular routing protocols.

IPv4 and IPv6—including support for Unicast and Multicast Filtering and Routing—is available in H3C® routers such as the SR6600*, MSR 50*, MSR 30* and MSR 20* families, as well as in H3C premium enterprise switches including the S12500*, S9500*, S7500*, S7500E*, S5800*, S5500-EI*, S5500-SI* and S3600-EI families.
