System Management

System management ensures reliable, secure and scalable networks

Introduction to System Management

H3C's Comware® Operating System is an integrated technology platform for H3C® IP-based products. Supporting a range of diverse hardware and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) platforms, it is a highly scalable, reliable and robust system management platform. Comware integrates technologies at the data link, Intelligent Resilient Framework (IRF™), IP routing, MPLS, VPN, quality of service (QoS), voice and security layers to provide customers with a scalable and flexible network solution that supports multiple system structures, devices and user management interfaces.

Comware Operating System Features & Benefits

  • Scalable and portable — Enables effective encapsulation and screening for many kinds of operating systems (OSs) and hardware structures, including support for vxWorks, pSOS, Linux and Windows; CPUs such as PowerPC, Intel and Broadcom; and switch chips from Broadcom and Marvell.
  • Redudant and reliable — Supports dual-main processing unit (dual-MPU), stateful failover and IRF for backup and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol, forwarding path backup, nonstop forwarding (NSF), nonstop routing, multi-MPU technology, interface backup, quick rerouting, multi-device aggregated link backup and distributed intelligent resilient routing.
  • Access and control — Provides query and control for boards, CPU, memory and all other hardware device resources; display and debugging functions for supported protocols as well as log, trap and debugging system information classified and filtered on per-module, per-severity basis.
  • Flexible user management interfaces — Supports a variety of user management interfaces including: command-line interface (CLI); Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP); HTTP or Secure HTTP (HTTPS); as well as automatic configuration and cluster management.
  • Storage flexibility — Supports various storage media including flash memory, hard disk, CF card and USB devices; the formatting, repairing and partitioning of devices and a common file system for managing files and directories in storage devices including create file systems; create, delete, modify and rename files and directories; and display contents of files.
